Relatively new to the gallery is Marianne Nicholls, a St Just based fine artist whose wonderful abstract style is reminiscent of the mid-century modernist painters who made St Ives famous. She captures the Penwith landscape in a truly inspired way and we find her paintings totally addictive and calming. She uses acrylics with often complimentary patches of colour scratched through in a seemingly random yet highly considered way. Her later works are all framed in a simple white frame that sets of the canvas or board brilliantly. Her work is highly collectable and I have several in my own collection.
We have a good selection to choose from in the window and on the gallery walls – come and see?
