WHY IS THIS A MADE TO ORDER SERVICE ONLY?
The range of ceramics Jane makes is vast and it’s just not possible to hold stock of every item. This approach also makes it possible for special requests to be accommodated, such as coat or hair colour, type of animal, addidtions or subtractions.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO MAKE MY ORDER?
It usually takes about 7 days from receiving the order to dispatch. Somethimes things do go wrong however and Jane may need longer to work on your order. Please say if your order is time critical and she will do her best to help. She will always advise of any hold ups. Commissions always take longer.
MY ORDER IS NOT EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE PHOTO – WHY?
Jane does her best to reproduce as closely as possible the look of the piece in the photo. However because the piece is handmade and glazes and firings vary the expression or colour may not be exact. Such is the beauty of handmade studio ceramics.
WHAT TYPE OF CLAY IS USED?
For the ceramic animals Jane uses a grogged stoneware crank which is specifically formulated for handbuilding larger pieces.
CAN I PUT MY CERAMIC ANIMAL OUTSIDE?
The clay Jane uses for her animals is an ‘open’ clay and the sand and grog help to ensure it will be frostproof up to -5C degrees below zero.
CAN YOU MAKE MY PET?
Yes! Jane offers a bespoke service for commissions – please follow the link to the Commissions page of the website.
CAN I VISIT YOUR STUDIO/
The studio is private since Jane is frankly a bit untidy and messy, but you can visit and meet Jane in her gallery in St Just – THE JANE ADAMS GALLERY.
WHAT CAN I DO IF MY PIECE BREAKS?
It is usually possible to make a good repair because of the nature of the clay. Jane can do this for you or you can use Instant Araldite – nothing else works adequately.
